It’s hard to catch a trophy fish if you scare away all the ones that are hiding. That’s exactly what the Berkley Vanish succeeded in doing. Once in the water, it seemed invisible, justifying its name in our tests. Another nice feature is its impressive sensitivity. It allowed us to detect even the smallest bite and set the hook when the fish grabbed the bait. It also has a relatively low memory for fluorocarbon line, which is an advantage when casting, and a unique ability to sink faster than other lines, which we appreciated when trying to cast the bait close to where the fish had just jumped.

The only real complaint about this line is its casting range. While it outperforms many of the monofilament lines we tested, it could not match the braided lines in our tests. Overall, if you want an almost invisible line with excellent sensitivity and durability, Berkley Vanish is for you.

This has been proven many times when we’ve hooked a lure on rocks, and the line barely broke even after repeatedly scraping over rocks. This line is also great for a variety of fishing styles, whether you’re casting with a bait or just sinking a hook with a worm on it. It was also one of the best when it came to knot strength. Once we tied the knot, we were sure it would hold.

While this fishing line had many pros, there were also cons. This line has the most stretchiness of all the lines tested. This greatly reduces its sensitivity, so we missed more than a few bites, and trying to set the hook several times became a problem. It also has a fairly large memory, so expect problems if you leave it on the reel for long periods of time. Overall, this fishing line is great for a variety of styles and techniques.
